How to use Meebie™
As
your setting requires, Meebie™ can
be useful in projecting feelings, identifying affect, developing empathy,
social skills enhancement, and building fine motor control skills. Yet,
we are just beginning to learn all of the areas and uses for which Meebie™ is,
and will be, a significant addition to the therapy clinic, teacher's
classroom, counselor's office, and family home.
Here are some thoughts to get you started, but as you use Meebie™ in
your setting, we hope you will share your successes
and experiences with us so we can pass that knowledge on to others.
- Families, therapists and teachers might all use Meebie™ somewhat
differently.
You can make Meebie™ accessible
by propping against some pillows, or sit Meebie™ in
a chair, or set upright in a cozy toy corner. The point is just to
have Meebie™ propped upright
at a comfortable level for interaction.
- Open the folder of embroidered pieces and begin.
- Experiment! Many of Meebie™’s eyes,
mouths, and various pieces work just as well upside down, or as something
else entirely.
- If a firm grip between piece and fur is desired, give the piece a
little wiggle in its position.
- Meebie™ and all parts are
washable.
- We've worked hard to make Meebie™ non-gender
and non-race specific so that the child can apply what is meaningful
to them.
